1. What cookies and browser storage are

Cookies are small files a website asks your browser to store and send back with each request. Local storage and session storage are similar, except the data stays in your browser and is never transmitted automatically with a request. All three can be used to remember a preference or to identify a visitor across pages and visits.

Under the EU/UK ePrivacy rules, storing or reading information on your device requires consent unless the storage is strictly necessary to provide a service you asked for. The two values this site stores fall in that necessary category: one delivers the theme you selected, the other prevents an animation you have already seen from repeating. Nothing here identifies you, and nothing is shared with advertisers.

2. Browser storage used by this site

Storage created by wilsondevops.com itself — none of these are cookies and none leave your browser.

Both values contain only a word such as dark or the digit 1. They contain no identifier, no personal data, and they are never sent to a server.

3. Cookies set when you visit

Cookies that may be present, set by the hosting and security layer rather than by the site content.

Because these are strictly necessary for security and delivery of the site, they do not require consent and cannot be switched off from within the site.

There are no other cookies. No analytics cookies, no advertising or retargeting cookies, no social media pixels, no affiliate or cross-site tracking, no session or login cookies (this site has no login).

4. Third parties and links away from this site

• All fonts and JavaScript libraries are self-hosted, so loading this site does not contact Google Fonts, a CDN or any analytics provider.
• If you click through to WhatsApp, LinkedIn, GitHub or X, you leave this site and those platforms apply their own cookies and privacy policies.
• Transactional email sent to info@wilsondevops.com has nothing to do with cookie storage, but the email provider’s own policies apply to that correspondence.

5. How to control or clear this storage

You can clear everything this site has stored at any time:

• Every browser — open site data / “cookies and other site data” in settings and delete the entry for wilsondevops.com.
• Chrome / Edge — Settings → Privacy and security → Third-party cookies → See all site data and permissions → search wilsondevops.com → Delete.
• Safari — Settings → Privacy → Manage Website Data → search and Remove.
• Firefox — Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data → Manage Data.
• Quick reset — opening the site in a private/incognito window starts with no stored data at all.

Clearing storage is harmless: the only visible effects are that the site returns to the theme reported by your operating system, and the intro animation plays once more. Blocking cookies entirely will not break any page — the site is fully readable and navigable without JavaScript.

6. If this changes

If I ever add a feature that requires analytics or marketing cookies — for example privacy-friendly traffic statistics — I will list it in the table above, publish the change here with a new effective date, and ask for consent where the law requires it before any non-essential cookie is set.
